Will I Have To Preach IN FRONT OF MY PEERS?

Prairie Fire Preaching Community is not a preaching contest among colleagues. You might not even hear each other preach unless you decide that's part of it for you. You set your own goals and your cohort will help you tend to your goals. Prairie Fire is for you no matter if you think you're a great preacher or not. Weather you've been at it 25 years or 25 minutes. This year-long preaching experiment will give you the space and time to absorb and discern the myriad aspects of speaking the Good News. You can practice tiny new things that might change who you are and how you preach. Or maybe you’ll take big swings. It’s up to you.

Retreat Dates and Information

Your Prairie Fire participation is key to your application and acceptance into this program. Retreat dates and cohort on-line meetings are the program. They must work in your calendar for you to apply. (Cohort meeting dates will be scheduled when all cohort members are together with calendars!)

2026-2027 RETREAT DATES
October 25-28, 2026
January 10-13, 2027
May 16-19, 2027
August 15-18, 2027

What is the format of the retreats?

The retreats will center around hearing from a practicing preacher and 2 professionals from other disciplines. Our task as preachers will be to see through their eyes how they view their work and world and make connections to what we can learn from their craft and experiences. We think the impact of all 3 presenters will spark creative possibilities for you as you explore your own preaching.

What About Cohorts?

Cohorts will virtually meet in between retreats and will gather around themes with a presenter and/or your cohort facilitator. Cohorts serve as a connection point for you and your colleagues in between retreats as well as a way for accountability for the goals you set for yourself.

What Does This Cost?

Are you sitting down? I hope so. $600 is the fee for one program year of Prairie Fire. But wait! There's more! You also become an automatic member of Continuous Growth Pathway and all the programs offered there.  Neat, huh?

Simply go to cgpmn.org and create a user profile. From there, you can pay for this program on-line or send us a check. All the details are on the CGP website.

In case we forgot to mention it, Prairie Fire was created out of a grant from the Lilly Foundation given to the Continuous Growth Pathway.
